Today's character spotlight is on L. Lawliet (Death Note)! 8D He's one of the first miis I'd created for the game. I gave L the Independent-Lone Wolf personality. It's worked out very well. He's not a social animal but he's fairly popular as other miis seek out his friendship on their own. His room is the cartoon interior. I think it complements L's super serious look and personality very well. XD

In other news, we've had something of a baby boom, with 3 babies! Zoro (with Kerry) and Stein (with Chihaya) became parents for the first time and Teppei (with my mii) has a second child. But I'm going to babysit only as a last resort. 8P

Today's character spotlight is on Sanzo! 8D Even before I got my hands on this game, I knew I wanted Sanzo (Saiyuki) in it. Creating his mii was a cinch. I did it while staring at the Saiyuki poster on my wall. I love his do-not-bug-me face. It's so endearing. XD In my game, I adore him for his quiet, no-nonsense, fuss-free ways. Napping seems to be his favorite past-time though. 8D The most surprising thing about Sanzo was how quickly he was able to find a friend and partner in Aomine (Kuroko no Basuke). They are happily married. Aomine sings Sanzo's praises. They rarely ever fight.

New miis that I've created and added to my game include Houzuki (Houzuki no Reitetsu), Niizuma (Bakuman), Enma Ai (Jigoku Shoujo), Oga (Beelzebub), Heiwajima (Durarara), Sendo (Slam Dunk) and Zack Fair (Final Fantasy).

I have letters from Ryan and Aubrey! XD

Letters and home visits are possible only through spotpass. I've been reading 2ch and how some Japanese players don't even hear from their traveling kids for up to 10 months. That's really sad. 8( I hope I get letters from Ryan and Aubrey sometimes. But, sooner or later, they'll drop out of sight, since people are likely to stop playing the game when they tire of it in a few months.

I know they're just bunches of pixels but I feel attached to them and I want them to be well taken care of on other islands. I was all teary-eyed as I read their letters and looked at their pictures. I miss them. =3 In other news, I was stoked to get espresso today at the food mart. Yay for caffeine! 8D There was a pity party at the cafe, what with Mikasa being too depressed to join in the conversation. Stein finally has a lab coat! But the most shocking development is Professor Layton's first experience with a cup of tea. He hates it. THAT'S CRAZY! AND WRONG!!! XD

Happiness is getting streetpasses and travelers camping on your island! I think it's something close to a miracle that I've managed to get 7 campers at once. I like meeting these young adventurers. I talk to them, feed them, give them a bath or medicine if they felt unwell. In return, I may get a special streetpass food item or a gift and letter the next day when they leave my island. It does make me sad when I get a traveler who's been on the road for a year or more and she says she's homesick. (Traveling miis can return for brief home visits but they can't return home for good. They keep traveling.)

In my game, Zoro and Chow Yun-Fat are great friends. They hang out together, eat and chat at the cafe, that sort of thing. Yet, today, they had a terrible fight! Over a glass slipper! XD

So I wasn't able to bring myself to part ways with Dylan but I did send Aubrey (Layton and Junpei's daughter) and Ryan (Aomine and Sanzo's son) out of my game to be world travelers. I hope they have great adventures in other faraway islands and I can't wait to receive letters and the occasional home visit from them.=3

In other news, I gave Bell (Blood Lad) the gorgeous gothic interior for her room; watched Mephisto (Ao no Exorcist) and Hughes (Fullmetal Alchemist) break up in the cafe;  watched Zoro pop the question (he's a married man now); witnessed a terrifying give-me-the-teddy-bear-damn-you fight between Hijikata (Till Death Do Us Part) and Hughes. Also, Sendo (Slam Dunk) and Chow Yun-Fat became fast friends fast! They spend a lot of time together chatting or doing yoga. XD Oh. And there's that small matter of my having solved 1,000 mii problems. 8D

Dylan's all grown up and, just as I'd feared, I couldn't bear to send him away to become a world traveler so he's living in the mii apartment block. 8D Whatever decision you make, you get an animated cutscene full of snapshots of your baby's days with his parents as the credits run. I got all misty-eyed over it. XD

Dylan's a fine-looking boy, isn't he? I'll use the age-o-matic on him some day, when I think he's ready to become a full-fledged adult. I hear that, as long as he's in my game, his parents will turn up at his birthday and wedding parties. =3 In other news, the apartment building expanded because I now have close to 50 miis living with me. I feel really attached to most of them. Stein, for instance. I love visiting him and feeding him and playing with him. Today, I found a ladybug on his head. His reaction was priceless when I told him. XD

I'd thought that I would send all the children out of my game to be world travelers when they are old enough but I now have doubts I can do that because I'm getting totally attached to the babies. XD Especially my mii and Teppei's firstborn son. From a gurgling baby, Dylan's now grown into a proper kid. I love just watching him playing on the trampoline or in the sandbox, reading his books quietly or running on and off the screen joyously while the adults carry on with their conversation. =3 (His mom or dad would look in his direction from time to time though. I love that it happens. 8)  )

Milestones broadcast on the Mii News include my having solved 700 mii problems and having given over 1,000 food items to my islanders. Irrefutable evidence of my addiction to this game! I've also created and added more miis including Kite (Hunter X Hunter) and Shogo (One Weeks Friends). The population stands at over 40 miis now. XD

Unlocked the campsite because I have travellers from streetpassing! Pretty much a matter of luck getting travellers since you have to streetpass with someone who not only plays the game but has sent islanders from his island out to travel the world. I like that I can interact with the campers and give them food and presents. In other news, Trafalgar Law asked L to be his date and got turned down. Maybe it's the special song he sang? XD

In other news, I have two more babies! Aomine and Sanzo, and Professor Layton and Junpei, have become new wide-eyed parents! Heh. There will be lots of baby photos to take. The miis continue to amuse me to no end every day. Kagami turned into a gooey mess and melted into the floor when I gave him fish cakes. I think it's safe to say he hates them. XP I gave Mikasa the girliest room interior ever. The world has run out of shiny sequins because of that room! XD And I played the sliding puzzle with a few of my favorite miis. I love sliding puzzles. Each time you play, it's a different picture of a different mii. Last but not least, L was working part-time in the food mart. ;D

And we have a baby! Teppei and my mii named their baby boy Dylan. And they were still wearing the fashionably shocked look of new parents when we made the mandatory trip to the photo studio. XD

Babysitting is an option. You can rock the baby or play peek-a-boo.  But I try my hardest to avoid babysitting. I don't have the patience of a saint. 8P Babies grow up fast in the game. After a day, Dylan's a toddler, learning to walk already. XD

I love the family moments. Check in on the family at different times of the day and you'll see different things going on. Sometimes Teppei is watching Dylan, sometimes it's my mii. I love how they take turns. And when it's almost bedtime, Teppei brushes Dylan's teeth for him. *melts*

Dylan's got his father's hair color and his mother's eyes. In another day or so, I think our little baby's going to be all grown up and ready to leave the nest for the world. Can't wait. 8D

No one wastes any time in this game! Blink, and Layton and Junpei are married! XD I wasn't sure about them but, as time passes, I do find them more cute than ever. Teppei said he wants babies, so I'm waiting nervously. XP Stein and Chihaya seem content with their marital life, except maybe in bed, because Stein is one of those super active sleepers. XD

Today's special at the morning market was the protein drink. No one liked it though. 8P

These are all the miis that I have created myself for my game! Some were harder to make than others. It took me repeated tries with the hair color spray in the game to get the right shade for Aomine's and Mephisto's hair. Staz gave me trouble. He has a very distinctive look but it isn't easy to replicate in the mii maker.

That's what you may see when you get to the apartment block where the miis live. Icons at the windows indicate the mood of the mii inside. The first miis I go to are the ones pondering over a problem (black icon). Solving problems gives them happiness points. A green icon means the mii wants to play. A blue one means the mii is feeling down. The house icon means the mii is at Mii Homes, where married miis live. A closed window means the mii isn't home and a shuttered one means the apartment is empty (no mii lives there).

Many reviewers are sounding the alarm bells for Tomodachi Life, saying that while the game is immensely entertaining in the first few days of play, given the novelty factor, it will not last beyond two weeks because, once you have unlocked everything and seen all the dreams and cutscenes and played all the minigames, boredom will set in. And I fully understand what they mean. Personally, though, I believe this game will last a long time for me. I don't see it as a game; it's more of a toy. A toy amuses. A game challenges. I play Don't Starve for a challenge. I play Tomodachi Life for fun. Moreover, I really do love all the miis I've created and put into my game. These miis are among my all-time favorite fictional anime characters and it amuses and pleases me to no end that I can see them living out their own little lives on my 3DS. The voyeur in me is satisfied. XD

I particularly love the randomness. The fact that I can't control my miis is something I love. (If I wanted to micromanage, I'd play The Sims, and I can't wait for The Sims4 to be released!) So it's come to pass that I often find myself smiling over the random moments in Tomodachi Life when I see miis falling asleep on the park bench, playing video games with their friends, taking a ride on the ferris wheel, combing the beach with a metal detector or just plain chilling on a slow afternoon.

Two proposals, two weddings and a birthday party! I've never been busier! XD

Aomine proposed to Sanzo on a field while watching fireworks. (I actually missed the cue a couple of times but thank goodness I didn't screw up so badly that he couldn't pop the question. 8P ) But I much preferred the way Teppei proposed, in a ferris wheel, it seemed more fun. My mii is the luckiest mii!

That's a honeymoon (in Japan) shot at the top left. Don't you just love Sanzo's happy face? ;D  Every time I get a frying pan, I give it to Sanji to cook up a new dish. Today it's tomato soup. Yum. And I love the new room decor Stein has now. It's an English garden. The flowers are so beautiful! I want to live in his room for a while, I do. =3

The unpredictable hilarity in the lives of your islanders is what keeps you hooked. Whether it's something they're doing or even dreaming about as they sleep, there is an element of absurdity to make you wonder if you're seeing things. But, as I play, I become familiar with my miis, I start to see what sets each of them apart in terms of personality, and I realize how hopelessly attached I am getting to them. Every morning, I get up and wonder what they're doing and I can't wait to take a peek for myself. 8D

Naturally, I have favorite miis I tend to want to spend more time spying on with. In the screenshots, Sanzo, Teppei, Yato, L and Sanji count among them. Also, Professor Layton and Stein, I love seeing what they're up to. There's a weird feature that allows you to sort of rub them on the face. It makes them smile and gives them happiness points. (I think this counts as petting them. XD)

Aomine made a move on Sanzo. XD

Aomine is like a shark. I have no idea what it is about Sanzo that he's attracted to (the fact that Sanzo isn't the type to take any nonsense from anyone?) but, yeah, since he was determined to do it, I told him to do it in the showiest way possible. So he asked Sanzo, on a stage, with "We'd make the best couple ever! You should totally date me." I was speechless for a while. Especially after Sanzo agreed to his proposal. XD

Quote of the Day from Stein: "It's always weird when I have to introduce Yato to someone."

And so it begins. My adventures in Tomodachi Life with my favorite character pets miis! This game is a crack-filled amalgam of Tamagotchi and Sims. I can only imagine what the game developers were smoking when they made this. XD On your own part, you make your miis, put them on your island, feed them, dress them, play with them and solve their problems, then sit back and wait for the drama. Super quirky, out-of-this-world drama. You either love it or hate it. Me? I'm loving it.8D

Almost all the miis in my game are anime or manga characters. A few are seiyuu (Japanese voice actors). All of the 16 personality types are covered.
